Today in New Jersey

Monday, July 25, 2011

ManUtd.com's Gemma Thompson and Nick Coppack are travelling with the squad throughout their tour of  America and you can interact with them on our message board.
Monday 25 July (all times are local, New Jersey is 5 hours behind BST)
15:42 Here in New York City the heavens have opened, which is bad news for Gemma, who's on her way to Herald Square to check out a world-record attempt at the most number of conseuctive penalty kicks taken. There are rumours that Gemma may even be able to contribute to the attempt herself, although she insisted earlier that she "didn't have the right shoes on". (NC)
14:47 Sir Alex doesn't expect to sign a new midfielder this summer. He did try but it sounds like any deal hasn't been able to be reached. "The kind of player we're looking for is not available. So I have to be happy with the players I have at the moment and carry on." (NC)
14:45 Will Javier Hernandez play on tour? Sir Alex: "Javier has had his month holiday. He needed that because he played in the Gold Cup. He's had a long season - he played in the World Cup last summer also. The first and most improtant thing is for us to re-energise him, give him the proper training before we even consider putting him in the first-team. Once he get his fitness up we'll consider introducing him to the team again." (NC)
14:38 Chicharito on how his life has changed in the last 12 months: "Honestly, the only thing that has changed is that I can play with the best team in the world. That's all that's changed. I try to think the same, to train the same and to improve. I keep living in a dream." (NC)
